About this deal
Having struggled with hard ground pegging out tents in the past and more recently a porch on the hardstanding that has become a feature of most caravan sites because of the ease of getting on and off in wet weather, these proved to be a real boon from the very first time I used them, going in and out of the ground with no difficulty whatsoever. The ropes attached effortlessly and securely to the awning arm and they held firmly in the ground with the anchors. So many uses for so many ground types – whatever project your looking to anchor, GroundGrabba has you covered.

Hex Peg also have an alternative head without the rope hook top, which is more suited to holding down a tarp, or any other circumstance where you don’t need to hook a guy rope on. The first pull was set to be pulling the peg out of the ground at a 45° angle, replicating use on a tarp, awning or tent – in effect, trying to bend the peg as well as pulling it free from the ground, and that’s a no-no for some of these pegs. This product is aimed squarely at sand and soft soil use; forget trying to twist it into hard ground – it simply won’t work.
Caravan Rollout Awning Anchor Kit for Easy Camping Setup
In really windy conditions, I tend to double-peg key points of the awning just to be on the safe side. They test them against traditional tent pegs and measure the load that they can withstand before pulling out of hard ground and beach sand.

Dropping the awning leg to a vertical position means that you don’t have to duck under diagonal awning legs every time you walk down the side of your caravan! I reckon the Hex Peg is a ripper design, although you could stub your toe on the rope hook that stands proud of the ground even when the peg is driven fully into the earth.
Being a screw-in design, a hammer is replaced by a 12V drill, although a shifter, spanner, ratchet or a hand brace (like your caravan leg winder) can be used to insert and extract the pegs. The thread stops 20mm short of the top of the Ground Dog screw in peg, so that you are able to easily swivel the collar around the peg to get it in the correct position to hook on the High Viz Tie Down Strap.
