It follows the author’s journey, but anyone who has experience as a queer person should be able to relate on some level. the ultimate goal of her poetry is to be a safe haven for the queer community, as well as bring representation to the poetry world: especially in regard to queer love.I finally gave in and purchased this book because Tiktok would not stop sending me videos explaining the poetry and the story behind the book. on the nights when your only companion was the pain in the voices of those who sang the sad songs ringing through your headphones. aleyah has made me realize that I may be bisexual (or at least I am definitely having feelings for a girl).

Do not read the book if you lack the maturity to deal with the sexual nature of the book (please note that I did not mention an age; if you are an adult and find the sexual content of the book embarrassing, you need to look at yourself, not at the book). My coming out as homosexual and my falling in love with my closest buddy are both stories that are told in this book. It's always hard to comment on the works of women and more so lesbian being a straight man, however, I connect on the poetic level and I appreciate the author's journey through words.We all navigate our heartbreaks, and embrace love in different capacities, but are all capable of such raw feelings at the same time…it’s mind boggling and amazing.
