I rang up Hanna-Barbera because somebody told me he was working there as an animator and got his address, wrote a letter and got a cautious reply back. It was just one big boring monologue of how awful his life was because he had physical deformities (which I assume he was meant to be given as a punishment- *eye roll*) and lots of unnecessary repetitious mentions about how he took drugs. His investigations ultimately lead him to a mysteriously located place with the seemingly innocent name of Perfect Rest, a nursing home where the elderly can live out their days in peace .

His newest novel (after '48) packs powerful shocks, but continues the recent trend in his writing toward narratives steered by the complex motivations of his characters. In the first three weeks after the released of the first book, more than 100,000 copies were sold out.
The characters are well-rounded and authentic, with Dismas being a flawed and intricate protagonist grappling with his own inner demons while working on the case. Herbert wrote three sequels to The Rats: Lair, which deals with a second outbreak of the mutant black rats, this time in the countryside around Epping Forest rather than in the first book's London slums; in Domain, a nuclear war results in rats having become the dominant species in a devastated city; the third sequel, the graphic novel The City, is an adventure set in the post-nuclear future.

Haunted, the story of a sceptical paranormal investigator taunted by malicious ghosts, began life as a screenplay [13] for the BBC, though this was not the screenplay used in the eventual film version. After the death of her husband Gerald, Shelly became overwrought, went a little bit crazy with grief.
This included ridiculous conversations on burning stairwells - conversations that really, really could have waited. After a short while, the black rats became restless and the giant white ones began attacking the humans.
