About this deal

When our connected-home devices include cameras, microphones or environmental or activity sensors that detect information about your home environment, we'll list these hardware features in the device's technical specifications – whether or not they're enabled. Detect occupancy for home automation (such as Home and Away routines), if you've enabled that feature.

Allows you to talk to the Google Assistant (if you have enabled that feature) and detects the sound of glass breaking (if you have enabled the feature). If you put a sensor in your living room (see the house graphic), your thermostat can shut off heating when the air in your living room reaches 70°F (21°C) helping to keep you more comfortable while you’re using that room. Nest Temperature Sensors can let your Nest thermostat know the temperature in other rooms, such as the living room or your bedroom, to help keep you more comfortable there.

Depending on where you place your sensor, your system might have to work longer and use more energy to keep you comfortable. If you don’t, your sensor will still report a temperature to your thermostat, but it won’t control when your thermostat turns on or off.

Also used to detect certain types of sounds so that you can get an alert when a person or motion is detected near the camera. We’ve managed to automate a whole host of tasks in the home, making our lives run that little bit smoother. On the Nest Thermostat: Push the Thermostat > Turn the outside dial clockwise to the calendar icon > Push the Thermostat to select > Turn the outside dial clockwise or anti-clockwise to select one of the orange temperature icons > Push the Thermostat to select > Push the Thermostat again to select Change > Turn the outside dial clockwise or anti-clockwise to change the time > Push the Thermostat to select when you get to the time you want > Turn the outside dial clockwise or anti-clockwise to change the temperature > Push the Thermostat to select when you get to the temperature you want.

On the Nest app: Tap on the Thermostat circle > Tap the Eco tab at the bottom of the screen > Select Start Eco. Detect motion for security monitoring and home automation (such as Home/Away Assist or Home and Away routines). You can then schedule your home’s heating to ensure that, for example, a cold upstairs bedroom is guaranteed to be warm when you want to go to bed later in the evening. Magnetometers (also commonly referred to as magnetic sensors) measure the strength of and changes to a magnetic field. For example, internal device sensors can detect when a device’s battery is running low, when it’s overheating or other conditions that can affect the ability of the device to operate as intended.
