About this deal
If The Guild deems an individual guilty they are branded (quite literally) as Flawed, they lose all privileges, live a meagre existence and are shunned by everyone who comes into contact with them.
Now the regular Ahern fans might have mixed feelings about this book, where the regular YA dystopian lovers might just love this book. Ahern throws the reader right in, swiftly and deftly setting the scene and putting the story in motion. She thinks I’m a know-it-all, which she has told me plenty of times, and I try not to be one with her. This is the story of Celestine North who lives a perfectly flawless life with her parents and her younger brother and always abides by the rules, set up upon by The Guild when the government failed to bring upon peace among its citizens, unlike her unruly and smart-mouthed younger sister. Banks folded, the government collapsed, the economy was ravaged, unemployment and emigration soared. The book was later converted to a movie by Warner Brothers which turned out to be a blockbuster earning more respect for the author.
Join our community to get personalised book suggestions, extracts straight to your inbox, 10% off RRPs, and to change children’s lives.
Cecelia's fifth novel Thanks for the Memories was nominated for Most Popular Book in the British Book Awards 2008.
She is now published in nearly fifty countries, and has sold over twenty-five million copies of her novels worldwide. About what they feel comfortable doing, about what they feel is beyond the scope of their character?
