About this deal

Auchentoshan is a Scottish distillery known for producing some of the lightest and most delicate whiskies in the world. That being said, it's a nice whisky, thick sherry influence upfront with the bourbon spiciness coming in the back, nice honey and tangerine notes but way too soft at 40%.

This expression was aged in a combo of bourbon and red wine casks, imparting waves of vanilla and red fruit. Absolutely delicious, smooth, lots of flavour (that you can actually taste) and a finish that doesn't burn your throat off. This single malt was distilled at Auchentoshan in 2007 and matured for 13 years in an Oloroso sherry cask, before it was bottled up by the indie experts at North Star. But what really turned this whisky around for me later on is how the oxidation of it in the bottle opened up rather weird and off putting notes witch i could only describe as (and i'm not kidding when i say this is what i get) rotten onions and cabbages on both the smell and taste that just completely dominates the whole thing. Auchentoshan (pronounced ‘OKKen-TOSHan’) is one of the few triple-distilled single malts in Scotland.

This single malt from Auchentoshan spent 15 years maturing between 2007 and 2023, initially resting in a refill hogshead, before finishing in a tawny Port cask. You should also note that the picture images show only our serving suggestions of how to prepare your food - all table accessories and additional items and/or ingredients pictured with the product you are purchasing are not included. I don't know all the fancy words/flavours stuff, but have been a malt drinker for over 40 years and this is on a par with jura.It starts off with very light notes of mandarin, toffee, honeysuckle and a little bit of wood ash and tannins, but it is quite thin and a bit boring like other reviews have stated but it's ok. Release for the Travel Retail market in 2019, Auchentoshan Dark Oak enjoys its maturation in a combo of Oloroso sherry, Pedro Ximénez sherry and bourbon casks. Eight-year-old single malt from Auchentonshan, distilled in 2015 and matured in a single barrel until 2023.
